Chris Brenchley
Venture Builder

As a Venture Builder, Chris brings over 25 years of corporate strategy and execution to bear in support of New Venture Teams — serving as the connective tissue across the Ideate, Incubate, and Accelerate phases of our venture-building practice.

A serial innovator, Chris has proven experience in rapid commercialization of digital product and service offerings, having generated over $50M in early stage revenue for both Global 1000 and startup ventures in publishing, edtech, fintech, energy, entertainment, and HR.

In 2018, Chris led a successful Mach49 incubation as an outside entrepreneur for Stanley Black & Decker, and served as Co-Founder, CEO, and Board Chairman of the resulting startup — Surehand, Inc. — until it was spun-in in 2022. During that time, he also became the visionary behind and creator of the ROCK THE TRADES™ workforce development ecosystem, which launched in 2021 and was an honoree of Fast Company's 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards.

Chris’ first-hand fluency in both the corporate and startup spaces — combined with his passion, vision, and servant leadership superpowers — offers confidence, empathy, and operational expertise to venture teams during the agile early stages of the startup journey. He holds a BA in English literature with a minor in political science from the University of Delaware.
