Clare’s infectious curiosity doesn't just skim the surface — it dives deeply into the reasons behind people's actions and behaviors. That curiosity has sparked a fresh approach to venturing across diverse sectors like wind energy, e-commerce, and smart manufacturing, for some of Mach49's biggest clients.

In 2019, Clare joined Mach49 as the first ever team member in the EMEA office. Not only was she the region's Lead Venture Builder, driving the delivery of projects in the region, but she also took on the massive task of shaping the EMEA team from the ground up, including setting up HR processes, establishing offices, and finding talent.

As the business grew, Clare found her passion — creating a high-performance culture where people can grow and do their best work. She believes that employee experience should be given the same attention and care as customer experience, with the same level of experimentation and iteration. Today, Mach49 has more than 40 team members in EMEA — a testament to Clare’s impressive leadership skills, which she also works to ignite in others by shifting to “leading behind and beside,” rather than “leading in front.”

Clare's career path hasn’t been defined by a specific event, but rather a foundational belief — that it's okay to take risks because, in the end, she'll land on her feet. This belief has driven Clare to make decisions that others might see as risky or unconventional — like moving to foreign countries with no existing networks, leaving the safety of a permanent job to go freelance, and taking time off to travel or work on personal projects without a sure income. However, these risks have led to new opportunities and shifted the direction of her career in ways a straightforward path couldn't.

This year, she’s successfully experimenting with a part-time work schedule to help foster a well-rounded life. Freeing up an extra day every week to focus on other endeavors, like design and renovation projects, helps her stay balanced and preserve the passion and excitement she has for her job.

Clare holds a bachelor’s degree in business and communications from the Queensland University of Technology.
