Michelle is a tenacious, hands-on executive with 20+ years of experience building new businesses and innovating growth strategies. She brings a thoughtful, integrative approach to endeavors, combining sharp analytical skills with natural curiosity and experimental exploration.

As a Venture Builder, Michelle works with clients to guide disruptive, transformative ventures from ideation to fruition, building best-in-class teams along the way and leading with a nimble approach to execution. In addition to her work within Mach49’s Venture Building practice, Michelle also lends her expertise to the firm’s Venture Turnaround practice, Climate and Sustainability programs, and Office of People and Belonging.

Before entering the startup scene, Michelle was a global operating executive at Trimble, where her responsibilities expanded over time from product, marketing, and business development to strategy and general management. Leveraging her extensive knowledge of software, hardware, services, and diverse business and go-to-market models, Michelle led successful cross-business growth initiatives focused on solving customers’ biggest pains.

Co-founding AvidEats, a B-Corp direct-to-consumer subscription business providing real-food snacks to families on the go, was a real eye-opener for Michelle in terms of recentering her career around conscious leadership. The experience pushed her back into learning mode, introduced her to new operational challenges, and gave her a fresh respect for teamwork. Plus, it gave her the chance to make a real difference in her community by teaming up with a local nonprofit to provide job opportunities for people transitioning out of homelessness.

With a BS in environmental science and climatology, an MS in GIS and remote sensing, and 7 patents related to mobile computing, Michelle proves what cross-disciplinary thinking can do. This unique viewpoint, along with her collaborative leadership style, makes her a perfect fit for Mach49 — a place where disruptive growth ventures are the standard. Her journey highlights the power of curiosity; the value of continued learning; and the potential of ventures to not just transform businesses, but to change the lives of those they touch.

When she's not steering ventures to success or coaching the next wave of disruptors, Michelle loves to be in the great outdoors in Boulder, Colorado, and spend quality time with her family. She's a keen walker, runner, skier, gardener, and reader, and a devoted soccer cheerleader. Michelle also stays engaged in Boulder’s burgeoning startup community, as a volunteer, advisor, and mentor.
