Tjerk is an operations and IT leader, with a background in supply chain management and geotechnology. Having spent over 12 years at global data startups and scale-ups, Tjerk has an impressively broad range of experience building, shaping, and scaling successful tech companies.

After starting his career in fashion at Suitsupply — where he built a white label textiles ecommerce platform — Tjerk says he realized the tech side of the business “suited” him better. He transitioned to TomTom — an IT firm — where he learned from best-in-class product and development professionals. Seeing missed opportunities in TomTom’s data operations processes, Tjerk decided to spend his free time earning a master’s degree in supply chain and operational excellence, and upon returning to TomTom, led countless internal initiatives to reshape the business. He implemented process and workflow improvements, particularly surrounding training and support, released new software tools, executed supply chain optimization and innovation projects, and restructured teams to reduce costs and improve output quality.

At Navads, Tjerk’s intrapreneurial mindset switched into high gear. As CIO, he led the turnaround of the business and transformed Navads into a global location data technology leader. He orchestrated its acquisition by Uberall — a Berlin-based hypergrowth scale-up — and managed post-merger integrations before leaving to join Dealroom.co as COO. While co-running the global data platform with its founder, Tjerk scaled Dealroom at a greater than 2X annual growth rate, raised €10M in funding, and expanded the team to over 80 full-time employees. Today, Dealroom.co competes with Crunchbase and Pitchbook, and serves global governments, CVC teams, and top-tier VCs.

In addition to his master’s degree from the TIAS School for Business and Society, Tjerk holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Nyenrode Business University. He lives in Amsterdam with his wife and 3 kids, and, as a true Dutchman, enjoys cycling in his free time.
