Bill has over 25 years of experience as a successful venture capital investor, corporate venture investor, board member, entrepreneur, and executive confidant across multiple industries, spanning diverse business models and stages of investment.

As Executive Vice President of Mach49’s Growth and Scale practice, Bill and his team engage corporate executives globally, modeling highly experienced early stage venture board excellence. From exploring the desired impact of growth initiatives at conception to conducting portfolio reviews and global venture competitions, he and his team bring world-class venture experience to teams of entrepreneurs building new ventures both inside and outside of corporations.

Bill started his career in several high-growth telecommunications businesses, operating across network design, sales management, and marketing roles before leading business and product development at the 2nd-largest wireless carrier in the US. He later managed disruptive new ventures and investments at Comcast, where in addition to managing a number of early stage investments, Bill helped incubate and launch the business that became Sprint Wireless — in aggregate, generating nearly $5.5B in returns for Comcast through the various investments over 5 years.

More recently, Bill became one of the Managing Partners at EnerTech Capital, a specialized venture capital fund investing in early stage tech, clean technology, and alternative energy companies. Bill has established himself as a trusted member of leadership teams, and over the course of 18 years has built an enduring network of global co-investors.

Successful early stage venture work takes humility, gravitas, and a significant accumulation of experience. Over the years, Bill has worked and collaborated with truly exceptional entrepreneurs, their teams, and many venture capitalists as co-investors and fellow board members. He learned from each of these experiences, and now gives back many of the most valuable lessons. This extends far beyond work — Bill has found many ways to give back, from helping run a restaurant for the homeless in 2018 – 2019, to finding ways to help entrepreneurs better understand their teams and their unique growth journeys.

Bill has a BS from the University of Lynchburg and an MA from George Washington University.
