A recognized product expert and veteran Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Monifa was chosen to found and lead Mach49’s first internal venture, 2401. She and her team are launching Mach49’s digital platform for venture building and venture investing, empowering corporate clients to accelerate their own venture-building capacity and drive growth at scale. Monifa also leads Belonging@Mach49, a strategic initiative to unleash empathy-driven authentic leadership at Mach49 and in the broader venturing community. Prior to these roles, Monifa mentored and advised New Venture Teams and Boards to Incubate, pitch, fund, and grow 7 new ventures as Principal EIR at Mach49.
Over her 20 years as a Silicon Valley product executive, Monifa created fraud-fighting products at PayPal that saved millions of dollars over billions of transactions, led a startup product team to create a wearable that won Best of Show at CES, and invented patented search targeting methods at Adchemy (acquired by Walmart Labs). At Opower, which was acquired by Oracle, she developed a patented web-connected thermostat with Honeywell. Monifa also led product management, user experience, compliance, and data science at Taulia, a fintech enterprise SaaS company acquired by SAP. As the second hire at A3Ventures, Monifa also built a diverse team of product and marketing leaders, established the innovation lab’s ideation processes, and created and launched several new products and lines of business.
Outside of her work at Mach49, Monifa lectures in product management at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and advises several startups. She holds a BA from Miami University, an MA from Ohio State University, and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
