As a product-centric Venture Builder, Thor works with global New Venture Teams to accelerate the identification of product-market fit in complex, rapidly changing markets. Whether acting as an architect, strategist, team lead, or mentor, Thor leverages expertise in software and hardware, media, human-centered design, and full-stack business operations to bring innovative venture concepts to fruition.

Before joining Mach49, he served as Chief Digital Officer at Zola Electric, where he built an international team to deliver data-driven solar solutions to over 1 million people in weak grid markets. A long-time technologist and serial founder, Thor also co-founded and served as CTO of Get Satisfaction — the influential customer support startup acquired by Sprinklr in 2015 — and founded and sold a handful of other pioneering Internet companies.

In his free time, Thor has been a founding member and advisor of local and national organizations focused on sustainable civic impact, including Code for America, Game B, PacerPro, and the Upgrading Democracy Unconference. He is also the New York Times bestselling author of “Get Lucky: How to Put Planned Serendipity to Work For You and Your Business.” Thor studied creative writing and English literature at the University of Iowa, and now lives in Ashland, Oregon with his wife, daughter, and two cats.
